BIVOUAC
IN GABON (1992)
In collaboration with the Franco-Gabonese
Cultural Center, and Yves de la Croix, its director,
a French and a Gabonese artist
travel along the Ogoué River in the footsteps
of Savorgnan de Brazza.
BIVOUAC IN NIGER
(1994)
The bivouac took place along the Niger
River. Five artists (one Russian, one Andorran, and
three French) worked with five African artists. This
encounter resulted in the birth of 50 works of art,
as well as a catalog and a
video reportage. The works were exhibited and tell the
experimental story of young contemporary talents.
An exhibition was presented in Niger, Limoges (France)
during the international "Festival de Francophonies",
in Toulouse (France) and
in Andorra.
BIVOUAC IN
ARGENTINA (1996)
This encounter took place in Chascomus
(in the province of Buenos Aires).
5 artists (one English, one
Russian, one German, two French) worked with five Argentinean
artists.
At the end of the bivouac, an exhibition took place in
the Museum of Fine Arts of Coronel Suarez (Province of
Buenos Aires). One of the artists created a "Carnet
de voyage" to document this

BIVOUAC IN
VIETNAM (1999)
Bao Loc, 200 km north of Ho Chi
Minh City, in a residence made available by Mr. Ngoc
(industrialist and patron), and in collaboration with
the Fine Arts Association of Ho Chi Minh City, five
French artists and five Vietnamese artists combined
their talents to create works of art which later were
exhibited at the Museum of the Revolution in Ho Chi
Minh City. This experience was recorded in a
"Carnet de voyage" created by

BIVOUAC
IN THE TRANSSIBERIAN (2003)
By train, direction Bejing via
Mongolia.
Never before an artist bivouac has been as nomadic as
this one. From Moscow to Bejing through Mongolia with
a stop in Oulan Bator, then Vladivostok, and finally
back to Moscow. Five Painters and two photographers
lived together for three weeks and worked jointly on
the theme "carnet de voyage".
The art works created were later exhibited at St. Henri
on the second weekend of September 2003. A
"Carnet de voyage" created by
one of the artists relates this experience.
BIVOUAC
IN GERMANY, LEIPZIG (2005)
This "Artists Encounter"
took place in Deutzen (40 km from Leipzig). Four painters
(three French and one Spanish) met with German painters
in a "Cultural Park", in a region full of
lakes created from reclaimed strip mines.
This bivouac concluded with a French brunch and an auction
in an open-air amphitheater. This encounter in the park
was documented in a "Carnet de voyage"
created by one of the artists.
BIVOUAC
IN GERMANY, JENA (2006)
This latest "Artists Encounter"
took place in Jena. Five "St Henri painters"
(three French, one American and one German) met with
German and Russian painters. Once opposed in a battle,
French, German and Russian painters were reunited to
paint outdooors, express and exchange their art with
their own culture and sensibilities. It was the first
of three symposiums, the next to take place in Russia
in 2007 and the last in France in 2008.
This bivouac concluded with an exhibition of the paintings produced during the
encouter.
