Encounters since 1991
Since
1991, the St
Henri Association has
welcomed artists from all over the world to live
and work together at the St. Henri farm in the
village of Payra
sur l'Hers near Castelnaudary
(July 1st to August 31st), in the Andalusian atelier
(workshop) in the village of Benaocaz (December
15th to January 10th), or in various corners of
the world as part of the "Artists' Bivouacs".
The goals of the association are to welcome
artists without any artistic selection and
allow them to come and stay free of
charge (food, lodging, and materials
needed for their works are all provided).
In return, all the works created at St Henri
and Benaocaz become the property
of the association. These works
are sold in an auction on
the first weekend of September. The proceeds
from this sale allow the St. Henri Association
to finance future encounters independent of
outside funding, and to produce the annual
news magazine of the friends of the Association "la
Madelon".
